Costco Recycling Education Partnership

Did you know that the packaging and containers for hundreds of commonly purchased items from Costco are recyclable in your blue cart?

Beginning in April, all Oahu Costco warehouses will be outfitted with recycling information: educational product-specific shelf signs (easy identification of products/packaging made from 1 and 2 plastics, corrugated cardboard, aluminum cans and glass containers), colorful “Did You Know?” signs scattered throughout the store, and our multimedia recycling educational display. The display features the new curbside recycling program and the cast of The Green Channel, the new interactive, digital television channel on Oceanic Time Warner Cable 332 and opala.org (see story below).

The City’s recycling team collaborated with Costco Hawaii to take the lead in educating its customers about recycling while they shop, at the point of purchase. This is a first for Costco worldwide, and on the leading edge for all retail stores.
